Dougs is awesome... a Skaneateles classic. Favorite 2 dishes are the fried scallops and lobster roll. The lobster roll is butter based vs mayo based. Food is reasonably priced for the quality of the seafood. Overall you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Will be back
I am there every week getting food. I enjoy the super friendly staff and atmosphere. ❣
I have been going here for years best place for seafood dinner
Love this place. Been a customer since day 1 and always enjoy it.
My son took me to Doug's on a nice sunny winter day. Our fish dinners we're the best we've ever had there. Super scrumptious!
Atmosphere is very nice and upbeat. Workers go around and clean up after customers. Customers should be cleaning up after themselves. All the different dishes I've eaten there have been very enjoyable. Cook staff is very friendly. Price I feel is reasonable for the amount of food you receive. I wish I lived closer as I would be there more. Would be nice if they delivered but might set a mile limit. In back entrance is a ramp for handicap. (Thanks). Again keep up your upbeat. Thanks for having delicious seafood.
Great atmosphere and food. I don't like seafood, but come here with my family, and have other things like onion rings and coleslaw, and always enjoy it.
Best meal of the week. Busy, but the line moved fast. The staff was friendly and clearly knew what they were doing. Food was fresh and oh so tasty! I had the oysters. They were on the online menu, but not the one at the restaurant. Glad I asked, cause they were great! Seafood chowder was loaded with various seafood. Loved my takeout experience here! Oh and they wrapped it in paper, no plastic bags- ❤ this
Fish tasted great. And that's a good thing because they forgot to put the tartar sauce on the fish sandwich. The lobster bisque was not good it was like a mixture of vegetable soup and lobster gumbo. Took 2 bites and threw it out. Now the mac n cheese is a different story, that was slamming and almost tasted like my grammas, I would eat that out of a dirty bowl. But the best thing of all was the people that worked there were very nice and we'll organized.
Always great food. There was a wait but reasonable. The phones are busy so we were unable to order ahead.
First fish fry I've had in a long time and one of the best ever. It was take out only but the staff did a marvelous job moving people through and there was plenty of space to wait inside. We took our food down by the water and had an excellent time.
Great Fish Fry Restaurant!! The fish and scallops and shrimp we had were all awesome!! The onion rings and fries were great too. The service is fast and friendly. The place is clean and neat. The outdoor eating area out back is fantastic - flowers, great tables on grass and there are umbrellas. A great lunch we had here!! I can't wait to return.
I hear so many good things about this place and yet it’s impossible to contact them to make an order. The doors are all labeled “EXIT ONLY UNLESS YOU HAVE A PAID FOR PICKUP ORDER” yet the phone lines are always busy.I’m glad they’re getting steady business but it’s incredibly frustrating that I can’t even place an order.
Doug's Fish Fry is by far the best seafood eatery I have ever been too. Their fish dinners are something else. The fish portions are so large you could fit them into too buns and they taste amazing by themselves. However, add their sauces (the chicken dippin' sauce is literally the nectar of the gods) and you have a match made in Doug's Fish Fry (I'm substituting that for heaven because they're literally interchangeable). Also I'm not a huge fan of coleslaw but I love theirs. The wait time is also short. Maybe not Chick-fil-A short but the service is definitely friendly and expedited at all times. I will say one slightly negative thing and that's their fries (similar to Five-Guys fries) I'm not a fan of the classic "fish & chips" style of fries. I like mine crispy. However I've grown to associate them with the place and love them nonetheless. All in all 10/10 would recommend.
The best place ever, if you ever walk away hungry, it is your fault. The servings are huge and I can't ever finish mine, have to take it to go
Order the fish sandwiches (fries & Cole slaw). You won't be disappointed.
Lobster Napoleon. If you like lobster and delicious food get it! The service was good, food came out quickly, and the prices are reasonable.
This is a favorite of many. I like the ice cream here. They serve cod I believe and not haddock. The food is plentiful and people love it. There is often a long line in the summer months when Skaneateles is booming with visitors. They offer vinegar for your fries and plenty of other dipping sauces on a self serve dipping sauce bar. They aren't cheap with their delicious tartar either. If you haven't been, you should go. Enjoy!
Just absolutely love Doug's Fish Fry and have been coming to eat here for many years. My parents even had their anniversary dinner here recently! Ther fish sandwich is always a safe bet, but the other shellfish that they have fried are delicious including oysters, shrimp, scallops, and clams. The onion rings are also awesome and I'm told their seasonal fruit topped ice cream sundaes are amazing also. Parking is in the public lot in the back and make sure to pay at one of the kiosks. A must visit if you're even within 30 minutes of Skaneateles and then visit the lakeshore of this beautiful lake.
1st. We love Doug's. 2nd. Some things are slipping. Please correct. Specifically, more horseradish in cocktail sauce it's supposed to be zesty/w bite, not ketchup. More white, less red, Ha. Next, your lobster bisque is more like lobster soup. It's supposed to be thick, rich, & creamy, not watery. Thankfully, your fish, onion rings and fries remain superb. Please retain your father's attention to detail & much success. As I said, we love Doug's!
Very consistent and tasty! I never eat fish any other place because I don’t want to waste $12 on fish that is nothing like Doug’s. Although.... I was in NC and stopped for some fish some place and ended up talking to the owner. I told him I was from upstate NY and he asked if I had ever been to Doug’s. He told me that he got a job there so that he could learn how to make a good fish fry and bring it down south. If you like a good fish fry, go to Doug’s. But be patient, when we went tonight the line was out the door from 5:45-6:45 on a Thursday. And the coleslaw is the best I have ever had... and I grew up hating coleslaw!
Scallops and shrimp were great...outdoor seating was nice.
I was thinking about the wonderful fish dinner we had on vacation and decided we needed to write a review. A delicious, fresh, perfectly battered and fried Fish dinner. Huge portion, we easily could have fed two with our dinner and then would have had room for one of the wonderful dessert offerings. Small but adequate dining area, fast counter ordering and service. Reasonable prices. FYI, Most parking in the area requires small payment, but definitely worth it.
Awesome fish dinner and shrimp. Food is always fresh and hot
Great fish and chips that I love to eat with my family. Good prices and an upbeat vibe throughout the resturaunt and a very nice set of staff
Stopped at Doug's while visiting NY for a Syracuse football game, and loved it. There was a line out the door, but they kept things moving. Huge plates at a fair price. Fish was golden brown in a lightly seasoned batter. Shrimp were large and meaty, cooked just right. Onion rings are fantastic, no too heavily battered. Even the coleslaw is great. Sat out back in the outdoor seating on a beautiful and pleasant September day and finished a great day in Skaneateles with a great meal.
This is my favorite place to get fish. Its is nice and crisp, fresh, fries are cut fresh, and the tatar sauce is the best!!!!
Fast service, super clean area, and have a seating area in the back with benches. Huge line during the dinner rush. Would recommend going around 8pm
Good food in a cute town. The prices were reasonable and service was very fast.
The food is real good the price is very reasonable. Try the grilled po boy.
I've been a Doug's patron for the last 20 years or more and have never been disappointed. Their menu is simply but everything excellent and affordable. Nostalgic, family, small town atmosphere is fantastic. Rarely do you find service industry employees that are proud of their job and employer, Doug's is one of those few companies. These reasons are a just why I'm proud to be a Doug's customer. Rest in Peace, Doug.
Love Doug's Fish Fry. Go there a few times a month to get to go fish dinners. Can't go wrong with Doug's!
A staple restaurant of the community -- plenty of character, great food and the location cannot be beat -- right in the center of town! A great place to stop by with the family - or even solo! Not a bad choice on the menu, just choose your day wisely as some items are only available on particular days. Otherwise, I know you will have a great time at Doug's!
Doug's fish fry is a must visit. The food here comprises of the most tender fish that is battered and deep fried. The fish sandwiches are highly recommended here and the coleslaw is also delicious. You have a wide range of dips to choose from too. As a bonus, You can sit here and enjoy your meal with stunning paintings on the walls to look at.
Everything is super fresh. Great cole slaw. Try the shrimp po'boy sandwich, you can't go wrong. Tasty lemonade.
Great place for seafood at a great price. My wife and I get one fries or onion ring dinner and one "meat only" meal. We drink water. About every 3 times there, we get a shrimp cocktail and share it or one for each of us. Nice people. You will not be sorry that you went to Doug's Fish Fry. One caveat, to avoid the crowds, go to Doug's either before the dinner hours or well after.
This place is great. The food is always fresh. The staff is friendly. In the summer they have a really nice outside seating area. They have great fried shrimp and fish sandwiches. This is a great place to go after walking around beautiful Skaneateles.
I don't know who's making the meals right now and I understand having all the calls because this is a great place to eat and get food, however putting a oil SOAKED fish on a bun for the sandwich and not being able to eat it as a sandwich is not ok. The bun and bottom of the fish and plate were so soaked with oil and the bun fell apart instantly when trying to pick it up. That is not a usual experience as I have been coming here for years.
This place was amazing! Even for a busier time of year, this place was speedy with orders! The fish sandwich, french fries, and lobster bisque were amazing. Very filling! Highly recommended!
The food was good, however the wait time is crazy, if you have seniors or children, go early, because it gets crazy later. The shrimp poor boy needs to be eaten in house, it's not a good to go meal, bread becomes soggy.
Doug's is the best - the owner takes pride in everything he does and that is reflected in the quality of the product.
Great food. Great price
Had a fantastic carry-out/curbside pick-up experience with Doug's this past Memorial Day Weekend. As someone who tends towards the extremely cautious end of the COVID-19 spectrum, I felt completely safe and pleased with their system. And, as usual, the food was awesome. Thank you Doug's Fish Fry for everything you're doing! I hope this great place can remain afloat during this pandemic!!
Doug's really does have the best fish fry. The pieces of fish are a decent size with just enough breading. I tend to prefer the onion rings to french fries. The fries are a little too dry for me.
This is a local landmark with fried and grilled fish, chicken and shrimp, seafood soups and a great local vibe. You can always see locals here and that love it...so do we! Be warned, this is not the healthiest of foods...I challenge you to find anything green on the menu; and for a fish fry spot, it is how it's supposed to be.
What a wonderful, fun place to eat! Doug's provides great food at a great price.
Stopped here to eat lunch with my grandpa and my fiance. I'm sorry I forgot to take pictures of our lunch but I really must say everything was great! I recommend the grilled shrimp poboy, but they are also very well known for their fish fry and the lobster bisque
If you enjoy a good fish and chips ( or in my case, fish and rings) this is simply wonderful. A huge fish fillet that dwarfs the hamburger bun they put it on, with great flavor. That will hold me for the rest of the day I am sure. I must stop in the non-snowy months so I could take the meal and walk the block to sit by the lake.
Love love love Doug’s fish fry! I have been going there since I was a little girl. Dinners are always fresh and cheap and they reduce waste to be healthy for the environment AND they sell tee shirts!
Had fish sandwiches, lobster roll and chowder. Not great. We wanted to like it, but couldn't
